For students who are not successful in traditional schools, the State of North Carolina provides alternatives.   Alternative Learning Programs and Schools (ALPS) are designed to meet student needs through the utilization of non-traditional Best Practices in Education.  Alternative Educational settings assist students with academic, behavior, and/or mental health and emotional issues that impede their success in traditional schools.  ALPS offer students another chance and sometimes another setting to earn promotional and graduation credits.

Alternative Education    is not   an    Alternative to Education.

I am bragging about our school as we compete against other schools unlike us not only within the county but within the state.  Not bad for an alternative school.  Who says that our kids can't learn or can't be successful.  I disagree and below is the proof.

Our CTE test scores are not just the highest within our County but they are the highest in the state surpassing the state average.

Just to report that Community High School surpassed not only the County Schools but test scores were higher than the state CTE test Scores.

Those were in  the following          Community High Average       State Average

Foods I                                                            94.4                                       87.85
Foods II Enterprise                                         87.67                                     80.5
Horticulture I                                                  93.0                                       81.31
Agricultural Production I                               89.40                                     85.74
